  • "L" Error Code on Controller for SaltDogg Salt Spreader
  • I spoke to Buyers about the issue you're having with your SaltDogg Salt Spreader and they informed me that you will want to apply power directly to both the spinner and auger to ensure they are working correctly. The systems all feed back into the controller so if there is an issue with either of these it will show as an error on the controller. The other thing you'll want to do is test the output wires from the controller, you'll want to ensure both the input and output wires have enough...

  • Troubleshooting J and P Codes on SaltDogg Electric Tailgate Salt Spreader
  • The problem you're seeing with the SaltDogg Electric Tailgate Salt Spreader # 337TGS03 sounds like it's either with the controller or with the harness. • Snow-Ex Salt Spreader Not Receiving Power From 7-Way Trailer Connector on Truck
  • First thing to check would be the 7-Way on the truck using a circuit tester like part # 3808. It will be wired according to the diagram on the wiring FAQ page you were looking at. • The "P" code on your Replacement Variable Speed Controller for SaltDogg Salt Spreader part # BP54FR is the code for the spinner motor being disconnected. They recommend inspecting the wire harness/motor for damage and then reconnecting and retesting. This can very likely be a corrosion issue as well check the plugs carefully and clean what is necessary. Basically the Controller is not recognizing that the motor is present and needs to see it before it will operate.

  • According to the attached Troubleshooting Chart, the letter L displayed on the SaltDogg Controller # BP54FR indicates low voltage (less than 10V for more than 10 seconds) applied to the system. This will cause the controller to shut off automatically. You'll want to check the power lead which is the wire going to the positive side of the battery and make sure it's properly connected and getting 12 volts both before and after the in line circuit breaker. A poor or weak ground can also...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with Salt Spreader
  • 5,000 lbs in the bed of your 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 is quite a bit of weight. First I'd recommend checking with Ram to be sure you aren't exceeding the capacity. For a super heavy setup like you have the suspension enhancement I would recommend is the Firestone Ride Rite Red Label Extreme Duty kit part # F2701 which can provide up to an additional 7,500 lbs of suspension support. You'll want a heavy duty compressor to fill the bags like the Firestone part # F2097. This will allow you to...
